Joe Rogan is not sold on the UFC’s planned White House event, and his biggest issue has nothing to do with politics. During a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan explained why he dislikes the idea of championship fights taking place outdoors. Many fans are excited by the spectacle of a UFC card on the White House grounds. Rogan, however, believes fighters should compete in a controlled environment rather than deal with unpredictable weather.

“The White House thing is odd,” Rogan said. “I don’t like the idea of fighting outside at all.” Rogan went on to explain that title fights are too important to be affected by heat, humidity, wind, or anything else outside of the fighters’ control. In his view, the sport is already difficult enough without adding environmental factors into the mix.

“It should be inside an air-conditioned arena,” he added. To make his point, Rogan compared it to other professional sports. He said no major league would hold a championship basketball game outdoors in direct sunlight. It would obviously affect the quality of competition.

The White House event has become one of the most talked-about ideas in combat sports. According to Reuters, the event is being discussed as part of celebrations connected to America’s 250th anniversary.

Joe Rogan Says Outdoor Conditions Could Affect the Fights

Rogan’s concerns mainly center on fairness and performance. Fighters spend months preparing for championship bouts, and he feels outside conditions can change the outcome in ways that have nothing to do with skill. Even small things like extreme heat or insects around the cage could become distractions during a five-round fight. Dana White himself recently joked about potential bugs at the venue while speaking publicly about the event.

Still, plenty of fans are excited by the idea. The UFC has held successful stadium shows before, but a White House card would easily be the most unique setting the promotion has ever attempted.

Rogan’s comments have already sparked debate online. Some fans agree that title fights should stay in arenas where conditions are fully controlled, while others think the atmosphere and history behind a White House event would make it worth the risk.
