Joe Rogan believes Khamzat Chimaev could be successful in the UFC’s light heavyweight division.

The UFC middleweight champion spent much of his early career competing at welterweight.

In recent months, he’s targeting a fight with the best 205lb fighter on the planet, Alex Pereira.

Khamzat Chimaev called out the light heavyweight titleholder after his UFC 320 win over Magomed Ankalaev, and since then, the superstar duo have been going back and forth about a fight on social media.

Joe Rogan backs Khamzat Chimaev at light heavyweight

Joe Rogan understands that the 20lb jump from middleweight to light heavyweight is a lot.

The UFC commentator says Khamzat Chimaev must treat the weight climb with the respect it deserves if he wants to be successful in a third division.

”I think he can do it,” Rogan said on a recent episode of his podcast.

“I think he can do it if he takes time and puts weight on.

“Because he is tall, and also the thing is these gaps in wrestling, these gaps in grappling, when the guy’s a really good grappler, and then you are taking on Dricus [du Plessis], who is really a striker.

“He is a good grappler, a good jiu-jitsu guy, but there are levels.

“The kind of guy like Khamzat, like man, you gotta be a f—ing Olympic level wrestler to scrap with that guy.”

Joe Rogan talks UFC White House travesty

Joe Rogan laughed off Donald Trump’s ‘nuts’ plan to have ‘8 or 9’ title fights on the UFC White House card.

The popular podcaster says the entire event would be a ‘travesty’ if one MMA legend isn’t involved.

Joe Rogan has told Dana White to put aside his differences with Jon Jones, who angered the UFC boss by reneging on a $30 million deal to fight Tom Aspinall before retiring and then unretiring after hearing about the June 14 event.

“If they don’t do Jon Jones at the White House, I think it would be a travesty,” Rogan said.

“They need to do that. Come on!

“Dana’s like, ‘You can’t count on him.’ You can f—- count on him. Come on, stop.

“At the White House? Come on,” he added.
