Bob Menery cost Dana White $10,000 by even stepping in the ring with Johnny Manziel tonight in Las Vegas, but was stopped in the first round.
The former NFL star looked far from his peak athletic prime as he threw heavy kicks at the much smaller Menery. White mocked the social media star from his commentary desk with Adin Ross and Hunter Campbell, but he did make the walk, which cost the UFC boss his big bet.
Menery started with big kicks before the fight headed to the ground and Manziel got on top after a brief grappling exchange. And while none of the punches in his ground and pound seemed particularly powerful, it was enough to stop the fight.
Back in his football days, Johnny Manziel was better known for throwing touchdowns at Texas A&M than any kicking. But he started off like a seasoned punter as he went for a leg-attack offence against the clearly much smaller Bob Menery.
As Dana White giggled and regaled Ross with stories of Menery being kicked out of a hotel for being drunk the morning of the fight, the influencer began to make a comeback of sorts on the ground. However, it lasted seconds as Manziel postured up and got to full mount.
And with around a minute to go, even though none of the punches landing were particularly concussive the referee decided enough was enough and stopped the fight. Neither Menery or Manziel showed any interest in competing again during their post-fight interviews.
