Jon Jones has addressed the viral clip of him confronting another driver in an apparent road rage incident.
A video of the former UFC heavyweight champion has emerged, showing him in a contentious exchange with another driver at a Little Caesars parking lot. Jones walked toward the man while keeping his hand buried in the pocket of his hoodie.
The man accused Jones of “almost hitting” him with his truck. Jones responded by telling the man to “calm down” and “relax yourself.” Jones flipped the bird at the other driver before walking away.
Jones spoke out on the issue on Sunday, stating that he was “proud of myself” for standing up for himself.
“This kid proceeded to chase my car down for two blocks, revving his engine and trying to intimidate me,” Jones posted on X. “I am glad this happened to me and not one of the senior citizens in our community. I am proud of myself for standing up for myself and not allowing that kind of bullying or intimidation.”
Without additional footage of the two vehicles on the road moments before the confrontation, it’s impossible to know whether Jones was actually in the right under traffic rules. But given Jones’ checkered history with the law, keeping the exchange relatively peaceful was already a win for him in and of itself.
Jones handled the situation much better than when he appeared to threaten a police officer during an incident last year.
