Jon Jones broke his social media silence to directly address Dana White’s claims that he is “retired” due to severe medical issues.

Disputing the narrative that he is physically “done,” Jones officially requested his release from the UFC, alleging that the promotion attempted to “lowball” him for the UFC Freedom 250 card at the White House before publicly questioning his health.

The conflict started following the UFC 326 post-fight press conference on March 8, where Dana White dismissed the possibility of Jones ever fighting for the promotion again. White cited Jones discussing his health with Joaquin Buckley as evidence that the champion is unfit to compete. “He’s got arthritis in his hips. Doctors say he should have a hip replacement. Jon Jones is retired because of his hips.”

Jones admitted to the condition but denied it was career-ending. Jones had even undergone stem cell treatment the previous week specifically to prepare for a return. Jones accused White of using his medical status as a negotiation tactic. Jones claimed that the UFC was calling his team to get him on the White House card. Jones questioned how the UFC could claim he was “never” in consideration while simultaneously making him offers. Now, he has made it clear that he can still compete.

“Random thoughts: Arthritis hurts, it doesn’t make you cripple. I’m still smashing 99.47% of you out there,” Jones said

One person who has targeted Jones if former WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury in a mega MMA fight. The Gypsy King will return from his retirement to take on Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 live on Netflix. Fury has previously boxed a former UFC Heavyweight Champion in Francis Ngannou. While Fury beat him in what was a boxing match, Fury has indicated that he would be open to taking a MMA fight. He went so far as to name Jones as a possible opponent.

“I’ve tried to do it about ten times. For one reason or another it hasn’t happened. [It would take] the right amount of money. It always takes cold, hard cash, baby. Anybody can beat anybody on the day. Nothing’s impossible, is it?,” Fury said
