Jon Jones Gets Embarrassed On The Grid Iron

Jon Jones is the greatest UFC fighter of all time. But he can’t play organized sports to save his life. He’s already have shown his lack of hoop skills at Madison Square Garden. Now he’s getting burn in coverage.

Jones provided accidental comedy during a Super Bowl-week celebrity flag football game Thursday at California Memorial Stadium, where he was absolutely torched trying to defend Dwight Howard on a post route. The clip, which made the rounds on X, shows Jones struggling to flip his hips before Howard glides past him with ease.

Missed The Family Memo

For a guy who comes from serious football bloodlines the brother of former NFL standouts Chandler Jones and the late Arthur Jones it became pretty clear why Jon ultimately chose fighting over football.

To be fair, there is context. Earlier this week, Jones revealed that he’s dealing with severe arthritis in his hip, to the point where he already qualifies for a hip replacement. Watching him hobble down the field in the video, that explanation checks out.

So no, this doesn’t change Jones’ legacy inside the octagon even a little. But as far as flag football goes? Even the most die-hard Jones supporters might want to look away.

Favoring His Hip

All jokes aside, when Jon Jones came out of his break, he was clearly favoring his hip and in light of what he’s revealed recently, that shouldn’t be dismissed as nothing.

For a fighter whose greatness was built on mobility, leverage, and control, a compromised hip isn’t just another injury it’s potentially career-ending. And that’s something fans, promoters, and even Jones himself may have to reckon with sooner rather than later.
