Jon Jones is seemingly not willing to give up on an MMA return as he continues to show that his arthritis isn’t stopping him from fighting.
Earlier this year, Jon Jones was snubbed of a place on the UFC White House event despite coming out of his brief retirement after declaring his desire to compete on the event.
This sparked the beginning of what is now seemingly a feud with UFC boss Dana White, as White claimed that ‘Bones’ was never in contention to compete on the event, despite Jones detailing failed negotiations.
With that, Jones asked for his release from the UFC so he can continue his career in MMA, however, it is extremely unlikely that the promotion grants his wish.
During his ongoing feud with the UFC, Jones signed a partnership with IBA Bare-Knuckle to become an ambassador.
And this past weekend, the former UFC heavyweight champion attended his first event in St. Petersburg as Yoel Romero competed in the main event.
That seems to have sparked more motivation into the 38-year-old as this past Tuesday, he shared new training footage on his social media, stating that he is not giving up on an MMA return.
“Right now, I’m exactly where I need to be, I’m excited to see myself in a few months when things actually start to ramp up. Feeling sharp across the board. #MMA,” Jones captioned the video of him hitting the pads bare-knuckle.
Jones’ hands looked extremely sharp as he cracked the pads without any gloves on.
Unfortunately for ‘Bones’ though, White remains adamant that he isn’t interested in the 38-year-old returning to action in the UFC, constantly referencing that Jones has bad arthritis in his hips.
Earlier this year, Jones was caught on camera telling a fan about his crippling arthritis, which is now being used against him by his former boss.
In recent weeks, talks of a potential fight between Jones and Francis Ngannou have re-sparked as Ngannou is scheduled to make his MMA return on May 16 on the MVP MMA Netflix card.
With that, Ngannou backed Jones during his feud with the UFC, with Jones acknowledging the sentiment.
Despite that, it seems unlikely that the UFC will ever release ‘Bones’ from his contract, allowing him to fight Ngannou or anyone else for that matter.
