Jon Jones, one of the most decorated mixed martial arts fighters and considered the best performer in UFC history, has reached a point in his career where financial concerns are a thing of the past.
‘Bones’ spoke candidly with Alex Gonzalez in a conversation uploaded to Gonzalez's YouTube channel on Dec. 17 and he discussed the high standards he has set for his endeavors outside of the UFC's Octagon.
The reigning UFC heavyweight champion gave fans a glimpse into his lucrative lifestyle, explaining that his time comes at a steep price.
“I make good money doing really, really silly things,” Jones said. “Show up to a party for half an hour for a hundred thousand dollars, you know. Sign a few items for a hundred thousand dollars.
“I barely leave my house for anything less than a hundred thousand dollars these days. It just comes from left and right, and I’m grateful for it.”
Jones credited his financial stability to UFC president Dana White’s longstanding assurance, promising to keep him wealthy for the long run.
"Dana White, my boss, he told me a long time ago, he was like, 'Jon, money will never be an issue. I never want you to worry about money. It will never be your issue. It will always come to you for the rest of your life,'" Jones said. "And it seems like the less I think about money, the more it comes to me.
"It's just falling in my hands these days. And I'm grateful for it."
At 37, Jones is coming off defending his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic. With a fight against interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall on the horizon, Jones' focus has shifted toward securing a massive payout to fight the Englishman.
Jones made it clear he’s willing to take on Aspinall—but only for what he called “(expletive)-you money.”
“I want to be compensated to the point where if I won or lost, that it really wouldn’t matter,” Jones said.
