Kevin Holland mocks Joaquin Buckley for claiming to beat ‘GOAT’ Georges St-Pierre in his prime
Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Looks like Joaquin Buckley has picked the controversial route to gain attention on social media. The UFC welterweight recently made an interesting tweet about beating UFC legend, Georges St. Pierre. His statement garnered a response from former opponent, Kevin Holland.

UFC fighter Joaquin Buckley recently sent out a tweet on X. In that tweet, Buckley claimed that if he and Georges St. Pierre had fought at the same age, Buckley would have knocked out the UFC legend. Kevin Holland retweeted Buckley’s tweet and wrote:

Dude can’t beat me how tf he gonna beat GSP Kevin Holland on X

Not only Holland, but UFC Hall of Famer, Cub Swanson took offense to Buckley’s tweet as well. Swanson went on a back-and-forth exchange with Buckley where he told the UFC welterweight that better fighters have tried beating ‘GSP’ but could not do it. When Buckley shot back at Swanson, he replied by asking the 30-year-old not to disrespect the legends of the sport.

As for knocking out Georges St. Pierre, the UFC legend is often considered one of the best fighters in UFC history. Pierre only lost two fights in his entire MMA career, against Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, both legendary fighters in the sport. Meanwhile, Buckley already has six losses on his professional MMA record and is currently on a four-fight winning streak. Although an interesting proposition, Buckley has caught heat from many for disrespecting the MMA legend.

Joaquin Buckley shot back at Kevin Holland in online spat

Joaquin Buckley was not going to sit back and let Kevin Holland disrespect his name. He tweeted back at Holland asking him why UFC CEO, Dana White calls him ‘Big Mouth’. The name has an interesting origin story.

Dana White famously dubbed Kevin Holland as “Big Mouth” at the UFC 227 post-fight press conference. White shared the story of how he initially refused to sign Kevin Holland at the DWCS. This was because Kevin Holland had talked trash throughout his fights. However, the UFC CEO called in Holland when nobody else was willing to take on Thiago Santos for UFC 227. Holland still talked trash while fighting Santos and that impressed Dana White quite a bit.

Holland and Buckley fought at UFC Fight Night 174 back in 2020. Holland knocked Buckley out in the third round and won the fight. Last year, Buckley told MMA Junkie in an interview that he wanted to take on Holland for a rematch but that fight has not happened yet.
