The former lightweight champion watched proudly as his fighters secured two victories, including a standout performance from Umar Nurmagomedov, who defeated Mario Bautista on the main card to move one step closer to the bantamweight title. Before the fights, however, cameras captured a heartfelt backstage exchange between ‘The Eagle’ and Andy Aspinall as they talked about their respective fathers.

Before the bouts, Andy Aspinall and Khabib Nurmagomedov met backstage, sharing a deeply emotional and vulnerable moment. The heavyweight champion’s father embraced ‘The Eagle’ and gently asked how he was doing, wondering if the pain of losing his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, still lingered.

Andy then opened up about his own loss, saying, “My father died after yours. It’s no good.” Khabib asked how old his father was, to which Andy replied, “88. He lived a good life. Your father was young.”  

Nurmagomedov nodded and said, “56. He was young. But this is life. We cannot control this.” The UFC Hall of Famer then embraced the heavyweight champion and praised him as the best fighter in the 265-pound division.
