Khabib Nurmagomedov was firmly behind his fellow countryman during Saturday’s UFC headliner.
Movsar Evloev decided victory over Lerone Murphy at UFC London, strengthening his case for a first crack at featherweight gold.
The result in the English capital moved Evloev to a 20-0 professional record and extended his unbeaten run in the 145-pound division to nine straight wins.
While the scoring has split opinion, Nurmagomedov didn’t seem to have any doubts about who should’ve had their hand raised inside The O2 Arena.
Evloev is looking to challenge Alexander Volkanovski in hopes of becoming the latest Russian champion in the UFC.
Evloev, who now sits just 10 wins away from matching that mark, caught the attention of ‘The Eagle’, who took to Instagram Stories to share his thoughts.
Posting in Russian, Nurmagomedov simply wrote, “The best,” alongside a message congratulating Evloev on his 20th straight victory.
Evloev’s title shot has also been called for by many others. Before taking Murphy’s ‘0’, he had already put together an impressive run with wins over Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen, Diego Lopes, and Dan Ige.
