Undefeated featherweight Murtazali Magomedov will face Jose Delano at UFC Vegas 124 on Nov. 7 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, MMAmania.com confirmed with multiple sources Tuesday.
Magomedov burst onto the scene in June with a 77-second submission of Melsik Baghdasaryan, executing only the fourth twister in UFC history and the first Scottish twister variation ever completed inside the Octagon. The 27-year-old Kyrgyzstani stands 11-0 with six submissions and five knockouts — a perfect finishing rate across his entire professional career. He earned his contract on Contender Series Season 9 with a sub-two-minute knockout of Brahyam Zurcher.
Delano brings a 17-3 record and considerably more rounds under pressure than his opponent. The 29-year-old Brazilian also secured his UFC deal on Contender Series Season 9, outpointing Manuel Exposito, then followed with a decision over former KSW interim champion Robert Ruchala in his promotional debut. A former Shooto Brazil featherweight champion, Delano has finished nine opponents — five by submission, four by knockout — and sits on back-to-back wins over UFC-calibre competition.
The matchup pairs Magomedov's spotless record against Delano's 20 fights of experience, easily the stiffest test the unbeaten prospect has faced. UFC Vegas 124 is headlined by a welterweight bout between Sean Brady and Gabriel Bonfim, with Karine Silva versus Gabriella Fernandes and Davey Grant versus Elijah Smith also on the card.
