Islam Makhachev says he expects to fight at least three more times in the UFC before stepping away from the sport.
The 34-year-old two-division champion already owns UFC records for most lightweight title wins, most lightweight title defenses, and the longest overall win streak at 17, most recently extended with a unanimous decision over Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330.
"I don't know what other records there will be for me to chase. In my division there are some very strong title contenders. Looking ahead, I think there will be at least three more exciting and very difficult fights in front of me," Makhachev
Carlos Prates has emerged as the frontrunner for Makhachev's next defense — a fight Makhachev has called deserved and one Prates claims the UFC has already told him is his. Prates has pushed for the bout to headline UFC's November 14 card at Madison Square Garden, though nothing has been made official.
