Michael Bisping admits he wishes Israel Adesanya had retired after UFC Seattle

Over the years, it’s not uncommon for fans to witness fighters stay in the game longer than they should, with names like BJ Penn and Anderson Silva coming to mind.

Bisping voiced his thoughts in a video on his YouTube channel:

He made it clear that he doesn’t necessarily disagree with Adesanya’s decision but believes it might be time for him to walk away from the sport.

“I wish, in a way, that Israel would’ve retired on Saturday night,” Bisping said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“But he didn’t… He said he’s coming back again and again and again, and you know what, fair play to the guy. He is taking damage, that’s a fact. He got knocked out against (Nassourdine) Imavov. He took some heavy shots against Joe Pyfer and back in the day, that wouldn’t have happened.”

Before stepping into the Octagon in Seattle, Adesanya referenced Silva’s career when talking about how fans tend not to focus on his final stretch but rather remember his highlights from earlier years.

Bisping touched on these similarities between their careers:

“There are parallels between Israel Adesanya’s career and what happened with Anderson Silva as well. Remember Silva? The greatest middleweight of all time… Anderson had a fall from grace and by the end it was like six (losses) in a row, it’d be sad to see that happen to Israel Adesanya.”
