A bantamweight championship rematch headlines the UFC 323: Dvalishvili vs. Yan 2 fight card. Bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili takes on former titleholder Petr Yan in the event's marquee match.
The two first fought at UFC Fight Night 221 in March 2023. Dvalishvili defeated Yan that night in Las Vegas via unanimous decision. It was the last time Yan lost a fight.
Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping weighed in on the Dvalishvili versus Yan rematch on his YouTube channel and leaned heavily toward the champion.
"This is an interesting fight. We know Merab is killing it. He's attempting to a fourth defense in one year, which is just unbelievable," Bisping said. "The cardio is relentless. The output is tremendous. The man never stops, and that's what makes him so hard to deal with."
"They've fought before, and all the numbers were on the side of Dvalishvili," continued Bisping. "But you have to remember, Petr Yan is still a man in his prime. He's only 32 years-old, and he's wanted nothing more than a rematch with Merab Dvalishvili. But be careful what you wish for because Merab truly is that guy. Listen, he's the better wrestler. He's getting better all the time."
"Petr Yan is probably the cleaner boxer on the feet. He's going to have the better footwork. But the momentum, mentally, metaphorically, physically, in any kind of shape or form is all on the side of Merab Dvalishvili," Bisping added.
"He's already beaten him once. He's already proven that he can go out there and beat him once. And I do believe that Merab will beat him once again... I think Merab makes history. I think he defends the belt four times in a calendar year."
UFC 323: Dvalishvili vs. Yan 2 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It's the fight promotion's last pay-per-view-event of the year and the final event with ESPN.
