Mike Perry says a Conor McGregor BKFC fight is a “very real” possibility.
Perry’s comments come in the aftermath of BKFC President David Feldman saying that McGregor is training for a debut in the promotion, with an eye on the winner of Perry vs. Jeremy Stephens, who face off at BKFC 82 on October 4.
McGregor recently reentered the UFC testing pool, indicating his intention to fight on the proposed UFC White House event next July. McGregor still has two fights left on his UFC contract, making a move to BKFC unlikely without a release from the promotion. However, Perry is optimistic the fight will happen.
“I think we’re in for a good fight on Oct. 4. That’s what matters right now, and I’m going to keep building myself up, and if I make enough noise, and put on a great enough show and performance. I think the possibilities of Conor coming in and fighting could be very real.
“And we just take it a day at a time…to fight Conor would be incredible because I know that he does get the itch, and I know he’s very busy and he’s put himself in a great place in life where he doesn’t need to fight. But you can see the desire that he has,” Perry said
Based on the fighters’ respective records in their relevant disciplines, a matchup points to Mike Perry having a significant advantage. Perry has a perfect 5-0 record, finishing former UFC champions like Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez. Perry’s fighting style is known for being aggressive, durable, and relentless. He is a brawler who thrives in the close-quarters, high-volume striking exchanges that are characteristic of bare-knuckle fighting.
While Conor McGregor is one of the most dangerous strikers in MMA history, his style and recent inactivity present major questions. McGregor’s striking is known for its precision, timing, and knockout power, especially with his left hand. However, his success in the UFC was built on a combination of distance management, explosive movement, and a wide array of kicks and feints, all of which are either limited or non-existent in BKFC.
