The UFC heavyweight division is about to witness a showdown for the ages in the eyes of all parties involved.

Interim champion Tom Aspinall has revealed that UFC President Dana White is pushing forward with a historic clash against reigning heavyweight champion Jon Jones following the latter's victory over Spite Miocic on UFC 309.

Aspinall was a guest on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Friday and confirmed that he met with White at that event stating White called the fight “the biggest in UFC history.”

“Right after the [UFC 309] press conference, I had a meeting with Dana,” Aspinall said. “I was expecting some negotiation (for a fight against Jones), but he walked in and said, ‘It’s happening.’

"I told him, ‘Well, Jon’s going to want loads of money,’ and Dana simply replied, ‘I know. But it’s happening.’”

White has been vocal about setting up a fight between the interim and reigning champion even before Jones defended his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

With Jones widely regarded as the greatest UFC fighter of all time and Aspinall seen as the future of the heavyweight division, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

Jones has not confirmed his willingness or involvement in this fight, but Aspinall remains optimistic that the UFC will do whatever it takes to bring it to life.

“Nobody knows what Jon’s doing—not even the UFC—but I would imagine it’ll happen,” Aspinall said.

Speaking to media members during his post-fight press conference at UFC 309, Jones sent a strong message to White regarding a potential fight against Aspinall.

"If I give [Aspinall] the opportunity to fight me, I want to be well compensated," Jones said. “I want that '(expletive)-you money,' honestly. Otherwise, my life is perfect.

“I don’t need him, but he needs me," Jones added.
