Former ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon has opened up about the joys of fatherhood following the July 2025 birth of his son with partner Aida Looksaikongdin. The 28-year-old Thai megastar revealed that he named his baby boy Zlatan after soccer icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic, all while preparing for his vacant title clash against compatriot and striking legend Nong-O Hama at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on Sunday, November 16, at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. The Jitmuangnon Gym representative’s transition to fatherhood has provided new perspective as he seeks to reclaim the championship belt he was stripped of in 2024.
Rodtang expressed genuine enthusiasm about his experience as a new father, revealing his natural affinity for children developed through years of spending time with numerous nephews and nieces. The flyweight division’s former king has embraced every aspect of parenthood during his son’s first months of life.
“My baby turned 2 months old recently. His name is Zlatan. I like everything about it. It’s a father-and-son thing and, I mean, I like kids. I love playing with them. I have nephews and nieces. I love all of them, two dozen of them,” Rodtang shared about his expanding family.
The ONE Championship star’s 17-2 promotional record and 274 career victories demonstrate his legendary status in combat sports, but fatherhood has introduced an entirely new dimension to his life beyond the ring.
Rodtang outlined his vision for raising young Zlatan, emphasizing his desire to introduce his son to multiple activities including his passion for soccer and potential Muay Thai training.
The Thai striker believes in allowing his kid to explore various interests while maintaining strong father-son bonds.
“I like playing soccer. I want to bring him. I like [Muay Thai] and I want to bring him to the gym, or do whatever he is interested in to spend time together. Having a child now, I understand the perspective of a father, as well as how to be present to my child,” Rodtang explained.
The former champion revealed the deeply personal story behind naming his son after Swedish soccer legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, explaining how the superstar athlete inspired him during difficult times before his fighting career took off.
“Regarding my son’s name, I grew up during Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s prime time. I was working a bad job back then. I watched him play with my boss and I admired him. With his character and style, he was a God to me,” Rodtang said.
The touching revelation demonstrates how Ibrahimovic’s success and distinctive personality provided motivation during Rodtang’s struggles, making the name choice a tribute to that inspiration.
Rodtang enters his title fight against Nong-O riding a three-bout winning streak as he seeks to reclaim the flyweight Muay Thai crown. ONE 173 takes place on Sunday, November 16, at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
