No. 8 Josh Emmett faced off against No. 10 ranked Lerone Murphy for the featherweight clash that headlined UFC Vegas 105 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Josh Emmett was looking to capitalize off the momentum from a knockout win against Bryce Mitchell in his last fight.
Murphy came into the fight looking to keep his unbeaten record and possibly pick up the biggest win of his career.
Both fighters kept the beginning of the fight at a respectful level with recognizing each other’s talents.
Emmett closed the distance and Murphy connected with a counter right hand. Emmett inched forward, only for Murphy to connect with a right hand
Emmett then began bleeding from his forehead, as apparently the two fighters bumped heads.
Murphy began to strike forward late in the round. He delivered leg kicks while Emmett looked to connect with a power shots.
To start the second frame, Emmett moved forward with a right hand. As Emmett moved in, Murphy slammed him to the floor.
Murphy went for a guillotine choke and created enough space to get back to his feet.
The judges scored the fight for Murphy via a unanimous decision. The scorecards read 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46.
