It’s been more than a year since fight fans last saw Nate Diaz in action, but the Stockton legend insists he’s ready to compete he just needs the right opportunity. Diaz (21-13 MMA) last fought in July 2024, when he defeated Jorge Masvidal in a boxing rematch. Before that, he dropped a decision to Jake Paul in August 2023, and closed out his UFC run with a submission win over Tony Ferguson in September 2022.
Speaking with MMA Junkie at Dirty Boxing Championship 3, Diaz expressed frustration with the current combat sports landscape.
“Nobody is free, so there aren’t nobody to fight,” Diaz said. “I want to fight three times a year, but everyone is f#%ing locked down. It’s just a matter of time. I’m trying to fight ASAP and that’s what’s happening.”
The 41-year-old said he’s been
“chilling and training” during his downtime, staying ready for boxing, MMA, or even jiu-jitsu opportunities. But he admits he’s still waiting for a matchup that excites him.

One option that does have Diaz’s attention is the UFC’s historic July 4, 2026, event at the White House, recently confirmed by Dana White. Diaz made it clear he wants in:
“100 percent (I want to fight at White House). That’s the thing I’m most looking forward to.”
Whether the UFC would be open to re-signing Diaz for the spectacle remains uncertain, but Diaz’s star power and popularity with fans make him an obvious candidate for such a once-in-a-lifetime card.
For now, Diaz remains on standby eager to compete but waiting for the right opponent and opportunity. If the UFC does call for its White House show, though, the “Stockton Slap” could end up being part of one of the most unique events in combat sports history.
