There were three headliner fights at the Netflix MMA card, but Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano was the main event. Rousey was coming back after a decade, but her performance didn’t look like it, as she won against Carano via submission (armbar) in Round 1 at 0:17. The former UFC women’s champion immediately took Carano down and converted into an armbar.
The second main event fight went absolutely crazy, as Mike Perry overwhelmed Nate Diaz and earned a second-round TKO at the historic card. Perry took control in the second round, landing several heavy punches that opened a deep cut on Diaz’s head. Just before the end of the round, Perry landed a devastating knee, and during the break, Team Diaz decided to stop the fight.
Francis Ngannou made a devastating return to MMA by knocking out Philipe Lins in the first round. Fans had previously seen him knock out Renan Ferreira at PFL, but this fight was even more thrilling. Ngannou hurt Lins repeatedly with powerful punches and then finished the fight with a brutal left hook followed by a series of strikes.
In the lightweight fight, Salahdine Parnasse defeated Kenny Cross via TKO (strikes) at 4:18 of Round 1. Karate Combat fighter Robelis Despaigne put on a show at heavyweight, as he defeated Junior dos Santos via KO (punches) at 2:59 of Round 1.
The first-ever MMA card on Netflix was a super thrilling one, as there were big names on the card. UFC champions were in the corners of fighters, and the whole event looked fully star-studded. Now, fans wondered what was next for Most Valuable Promotions: would they produce more MMA fights or boxing fights? Only time would tell.
