One Netflix fighter isn’t happy with how the top UFC lightweight contender has been acting.
Namo Fazil will be one of the athletes on the card, setting the stage for Ronda Rousey’s return against Gina Carano.
Rousey, a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, is headlining Most Valuable Promotions’ first Netflix event at Ingelwood’s Intuit Dome.
The 26-year-old is looking to make an impression in his eleventh professional fight and hasn’t been shy about making himself heard during fight week.
Welterweight Fazil is preparing for his bout against Jake Babian, which will be the last preliminary fight before the main card gets underway.
Babian is an American with Armenian roots, just like Tsarukyan. Fazil, on the other hand, fights out of Kurdistan.
During a livestream with Nina Drama, Tsarukyan made comments about Kurdistan not having statehood and referred to Kurdish people as “gypsies.”
Fazil responded by criticising the UFC contender in multiple posts on Instagram.
Babian also had a message for Tsarukyan during a press conference ahead of his fight with Fazil.
“I don’t condone that. At all,” said Babian.
