New Developments in Ben Askren’s Recovery

It is being reported by MMA Weekly that Ben Askren has been readmitted into the hospital following a complication with his double lung transplant recovery.

Just days after being released from the hospital, Askren posted an update video on his social media on Monday, July 28 detailing why he was readmitted for his first checkup to treat a possible infection.

As you guys can probably tell, I’m not home anymore, unfortunately. I had my first check up this morning. They didn’t like the way the last chest tube looked, thought it was infected, put me on some antibiotics and then had a few x-rays and hopefully we get this solved fast,” Askren said in the video.

“But right, Stockdale Paradox. It wasn’t always going to be smooth. It wasn’t always going to be easy. It wasn’t always going to be all the way up. Hopefully this is just a small hiccup and I’m back home getting stronger again.”

Just the day before being readmitted, Askren posted himself on an exercising on a stationary bike. Asken has lost a noticeable amount of weight in a short time and is unable to walk without assistance.

Askren has vowed to return to as much normalcy as possible in the coming weeks and months ahead in recovery.
