Niko Price has shared his first reaction to the UFC’s decision to ignore his retirement.

‘The Hybrid’ spent 10 years in MMA’s premier promotion before calling it a career at UFC Seattle this past weekend.

Niko Price took off his gloves and waited for a final UFC interview that never came after being submitted by Michael Chiesa on Saturday night.

Niko Price: “I had to stand there and watch”

Michael Chiesa also retired, so the unique circumstance of a double retirement occurred at UFC Seattle.

The Ultimate Fighter 15 winner got a fairy tale sendoff as a video of his career highlights played on the big screen.

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier interviewed Chiesa before shocking fans by walking straight out of the Octagon afterwards.

“I had to stand there and watch his whole thing,” Price recently told Inside Fighting.

“They’re like, ‘Yeah, you’re going to get mic time.’ I’m like, ‘Alright, cool.’ Then I’m like, ‘Why am I not getting mic time?'” “Then, I was like, ‘Whatever, don’t worry, but can I leave? I don’t want to stay here no more.’

“Then I told my coach because they didn’t even send me off at all. They went to my gloves, and then they took a picture of him with my gloves. I was like, ‘No, I wanted to do that picture with my gloves.’ He has his gloves on in the picture.”

Daniel Cormier talks interview snub

Daniel Cormier has explained why he didn’t interview Niko Price after his UFC Seattle retirement fight.

The UFC Hall of Famer didn’t feel it was right to speak with Price after Michael Chiesa’s massive sendoff.

“It was kind of weird, man,” Cormier admitted via YouTube channel on Sunday.

“I didn’t know what I was going to do about Niko Price. He was retiring, too.

“I just didn’t feel like you could interview him after you interview Michael in this situation.”
