One knockout on July 18 stood above the rest at Power Slap 14.

The UFC is set to make its long-awaited return to New Orleans later today where Dustin Poirier will compete for the final time in his career.

As has become a regular fixture of PPV fight weeks for the MMA leader, UFC 318 arriving in ‘The Big Easy’ meant that Power Slap also came along for the ride.

While Joe Rogan may have had a bold take on how to improve the promotion, when it comes to producing shocking moments, Power Slap certainly delivers on that front.

The previous event may have left Ronda Rousey stunned following a brutal KO but July 18 also offered up a finish that had jaws hitting the floor.

Power Slap 14 competitor avenges previous loss with devastating knockout that leaves fans stunned

On July 18, Power Slap 14 took place in New Orleans with a heavyweight title fight and lightweight title rematch topping the bill.

One of the main card matchups saw two former light heavyweights face off for a second time in the heavyweight division.

Austin Turpin looked to get revenge over Vernon Cathey after being stopped in the second round when they last met in June of last year.

‘Turp Daddy Slim’ certainly got his own back after unleashing a huge right hand in the opening round that instantly knocked his opponent out.

Rather than stumbling or falling backwards into the hands of the catchers, as is often the case, Cathey immediately faceplanted the podium, leading Turpin to replicate Alex Pereira’s iconic taunt after he stopped Jamahal Hill at UFC 300.

‘Asleep on the table crazy work.’

‘This was one of the craziest knockouts I’ve ever seen.’

‘Knockout of the night.’

‘Obliterated.’

‘That KO might be the craziest we have ever seen.’

‘Knocked into next week.’

Two more devastating knockouts ended the night’s two title fights

The two title matches that topped the card at Power Slap 14 also produced brutal finishes as both champions kept hold of their belts.

In the co-main event, Robert Trujillo successfully defended his lightweight title for the first time, beating Dakota McGregor in a rematch with a third round finish.

Damien Dibbell continued his undefeated streak of dominance as the heavyweight champion, stopping his latest challenger, Wesley Mena.

While Power Slap will not be taking place before UFC 319 in Chicago next month, the promotion is returning to Las Vegas for Power Slap 15 on October 3, the day before UFC 320.
