Paddy Pimblett is a happy man after being praised by one of MMA’s greatest legends.
Ronda Rousey recently named him as the one UFC star who has broken through to the next level of celebrity
“That’s what I think really matters, that you can make people know who you are,” the former UFC bantamweight champion said at New York Comic Con. “People that don’t know fighting. And that is how you command the being-an-entertainer aspect.
“I think a lot of the fighters don’t realize that they’re also entertainers. The one person I think who really realizes that is Paddy Pimblett. And so I really appreciate that.”
On Saturday, Paddy Pimblett shared a video of Ronda Rousey‘s comments on his Instagram story.
‘The Baddy’ added a caption to thank the women’s MMA pioneer for her very kind words.
“Thank you very much, Ronda Rousey,” Pimblett wrote.
“Means a lot coming from a UFC legend!”
Paddy Pimblett brutalized Michael Chandler to win the biggest fight of his career by third-round TKO at UFC 314 in April.
The surging lightweight contender got into the cage to confront Ilia Topuria after he became the lightweight champion at UFC 317 in June.
The powers that be are yet to announce Ilia Topuria‘s first 155lb title defense, but it appears Pimblett is on a two-man list of potential opponents.
Justin Gaethje is the other person on the list, and he has threatened to retire if he doesn’t get the next lightweight title shot.
