Matt Brown protege Joshua Perreira meets Antonio Cesar in a flyweight matchup at ONE Fight Night 48, broadcasting live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok on October 2.
Perreira brings a perfect 6-0 record to the bout, including a 38-second spinning backfist knockout of Gilbert Nakatani earlier this year. Cesar counters with a nine-fight win streak and an overall mark of 14-2, most recently defeating Lito Adiwang by unanimous decision on short notice.
The fight carries added history after Cesar replaced Perreira as Adiwang's opponent earlier this year, per BJPENN.com. That short-notice victory over a respected veteran instantly elevated Cesar's status in the flyweight ranks.
The card also added a strawweight bout between Lee Seung Cheol and Karen Ghazaryan. Lee holds a 6-0 promotional record and stands 13-1 overall, while Ghazaryan brings a 5-1 slate with every win coming by finish. Ghazaryan's lone loss came in his promotional debut before he rebounded with a TKO of Hisashi Ezaki.
The winner of Perreira-Cesar positions himself for a significant step up in ONE's flyweight division. Perreira's promotional debut ended in a no contest after a knee injury required ACL surgery, making this bout his first true test since returning to the cage.
