Petrino Fires Back At Walker After 'Boring' Jab

Vitor Petrino has responded to Valter Walker's social media criticism of his recent heavyweight performance.

Walker posted a photo from Petrino's Aug. 22 unanimous decision over Serghei Spivac, calling the fight boring. Petrino, who extended his win streak to four with that victory, told Sherdog he has tried to secure a bout with Walker multiple times without the UFC agreeing to it.

Petrino Says UFC Won't Book Walker Matchup

"That guy is a clown. Nobody respects him," Petrino said in the interview. "I've asked for that fight several times and I don't know why the UFC hasn't made it happen."

Petrino contrasted his willingness to face ranked opponents with Walker's approach. "Unlike him, who has already said he's not interested in fighting the top guys, I like challenging myself," he said. "I'll fight anyone in the Top 10."

Walker has won five straight, all by leg-based submissions including four heel hooks. Petrino's coach Cristiano Marcello previously confirmed his fighter accepted Walker's challenge. Both Brazilians now sit among the UFC's top-ranked heavyweights.
