Pros Predict Merab Dvalishvili Vs. Cory Sandhagen – ‘You Got To Knock Him Dead’

The bantamweight division takes center stage at UFC 320, as the champ Merab Dvalishvili puts his title on the line against Cory Sandhagen, as pros gave their predictions.

Dvalishvili, rolls into this title defense with one of the most remarkable records in the sport: an incredible 13-fight winning streak. He dethroned Sean O’Malley at UFC 306 last year for the belt, followed up by wins against Umar Nurmagomedov and O’Malley in their rematch.

Sandhagen has won four of his last five outings, most recently with a victory over Deiveson Figueiredo in May. His only recent stumble was a tough loss to Nurmagomedov last August. Here is how MMA pros saw the fight playing out.

Predictions

“Man, I love Merab. I got to go with Cory because he’s in Denver. I got to support Cory, and I think it’s an exciting fight. And man, Cory has a very high IQ, you know what I mean? And he brings a lot to the table. So, I think it’s going to be a really crazy chess match between them two, and obviously everybody knows Merab. He does not stop. So, I do not want to fight that guy. So, yeah, I’m excited for that,” Youssef Zalal

“Well, Cory Sandhagen and me are under the same management, but having said that, I’m a big fan of him. I think he’s a great dude, and I think he’s very technical and he’s very good. Um, but yeah, I don’t know. I don’t know. I think that’s—Merab’s just, you got to kill the guy.

“You literally got to knock him dead or he’s not going to stop. So, I think Merab has the advantage. Um, but yeah, I’m not surprised. Cory Sandhagen is a bad dude. So, I would say that, take that fight to go to decision. But maybe, yeah, I don’t know. I can’t tell you. I don’t know. I truly don’t know. I don’t know how that goes,” Joe Pyfer

More Picks

“Um, I got Merab. Yeah, I got—is that official? I think so. Oh, this is the best. Sick. Sick. Yeah, I got Merab, but I’m happy for Sandhagen getting the shot. Yeah,” Angela Hill

Yeah, I mean, it’s hard. Again, I’m a big fan of both of them. I really like Cory. I like Merab. Um, I don’t want to pick against any of them, but I’ll just be watching as a fan. It’ll be very entertaining,” Dan Ige

“I think relatively the same: take him down, squish him, and hopefully get a finish. And I think that’s what, that’s the main thing that we’ve been working on with him. Just, hey, we got to these power positions, let’s try to use it and put some, put some damage on these guys,” Aljamain Sterling
