A rising undefeated talent believes that there is one path to victory for Diego Lopes against Jean Silva.

This week, the combat sports world has had all their eyes on Las Vegas, where Canelo Alvarez faces Terence Crawford in a huge super fight.

Boxing has dominated the conversation, with even UFC president Dana White speaking about his plans to enter the sport now that September 13 is drawing closer.

That can make it easy to forget that this weekend’s UFC card features one of the best Fight Night main events of the year.

Noche UFC pits two fan favorites against one another in a headliner that is sure to produce highlights at the very least.

Undefeated amateur Stephen Clancy Simmons believes that Diego Lopes’ only chance of beating Jean Silva is via submission

Jean Silva may have been butting heads with a different fighter, but come Saturday night, his entire focus will be on Diego Lopes.

The Fighting Nerds star has quickly become one of the most popular fighters on the roster, with Silva’s destructive win over Bryce Mitchell earlier this year accelerating that process.

That being said, Lopes has been in the same spot in recent years, becoming a fan favorite due to his personality and exciting style.

Lopes is looking to bounce back from his loss to Alexander Volkanovski on September 13 and handing Silva his first loss inside the Octagon would be a great way to do that.

This could be a very difficult task when striking with Silva, which should make for absolute fireworks, as Stephen Clancy Simmons recently spoke about in an interview with Bloody Elbow.

“That’s a scrap, I’m excited for that. I like both of those guys. I really like Jean Silva. I think he’s a cool guy, he’s psycho. He’s absolutely off his nut, but he’s got a very cool striking style, so do all the boys at the Fighting Nerds.”

Clancy Simmons is one of the most exciting amateur talents in Europe right now at 8-0 as an 18-year-old fighter.

He believes that Lopes needs to play to his dangerous submission skillset in this matchup or it could be a tough night for him.

“I think Jean Silva beats him to be honest with you unless, Diego Lopes could maybe submit him. I could see that maybe playing out but I think Jean Silva probably sleeps him.”

Jean Silva laughs off suggestion from Diego Lopes that he will fight any differently on September 13

There has been some tension between Jean Silva and Diego Lopes ahead of this fight, which isn’t necessarily surprising given their personalities.

Lopes had suggested that his opponent might not fight in the same incredibly creative and relaxed way that he usually does due to the pressure of the moment, which Silva laughed off.

“It’s crazy because the guy who said he wasn’t going to say anything, now he’s talking so I don’t think I’m the one who’s feeling the pressure here,” Silva told Shakiel Mahjouri in a recent interview.

If Silva and Lopes perform like they have in the past, we could be looking at a fight of the year contender this weekend.
