Esteban Ribovics enters Saturday's lightweight bout against Edson Barboza at UFC 330 as a heavy favorite, with FanDuel listing the Argentine striker at -430 over the 40-year-old Brazilian veteran.

Barboza, fighting in his 15th year with the UFC, has dropped three straight and faces Ribovics on August 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. The longtime Muay Thai specialist opened at +300, per MMA Mania, reflecting doubts about whether his legendary kicking game can withstand the pressure of a rising contender.

Ribovics Seeks Rebound After Gamrot Submission

Ribovics is coming off a submission loss to Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 327 in April, where he was outgrappled after establishing himself as one of the division's most dangerous strikers. The 30-year-old made his name dropping Terrance McKinney with a head kick and overwhelming Elves Brener with relentless combination work in August 2025.

MMA Mania's Andrew Richardson, a professional fighter at Team Alpha Male, wrote that Barboza's best path involves neutralizing Ribovics' kicks early. "Ribovics throws a lot of kicks to help set up his pressure and offensive combinations, so Barboza should try to eliminate his opening gambit by checking/blocking/passing by the kick and immediately countering," Richardson noted in his breakdown.

Barboza holds wins over several elite lightweights across his UFC tenure but has struggled when backed to the cage, a tendency Ribovics exploited against previous opponents. Richardson picked Ribovics by decision, citing the Brazilian's declining durability and the difficulty of defeating this caliber of opponent at age 40.
