Rodtang vs Takeru Booked for ONE FC Japanese Super Fight

ONE flyweight Muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is scheduled to face former three-weight K-1 kickboxing champion Takeru Segawa in a five-round super fight at ONE 165 on January 28, 2024.

The Tokyo-based fight was announced by ONE Championship on November 30, the co-main event features the return of Sage Northcutt, taking on MMA legend Shinya Aoki.

The match is being marketed as a "flyweight kickboxing super fight." No championship belts will be on the line, and since it's kickboxing, no elbows will be allowed and restrictions will be imposed on clinching.

This fight will mark Takeru's promotional debut with ONE after sitting on the sidelines for more than six months since being signed.

On the other hand, this will be Rodtang's seventeenth appearance under the ONE banner. "The Iron Man," holds an impressive ONE record of 14-2, with his only losses coming against Superlek and Demetrious Johnson in a mixed-rules bout. His full Muay Thai record is a staggering 271-43-10.

ONE 165 is set to be ONE's first numbered event of 2024, marking their long-awaited return to Japan after a four-year hiatus since 2019. At this time, no additional details regarding the fight card, broadcast schedule, or streaming platforms have been disclosed.

Although the main event is kickboxing, ONE is promising to shift its focus to MMA in 2024, so fans can expect a star-studded lineup to be announced.
