Rogan Rips UFC Show-Win Pay Model

Joe Rogan has criticised the UFC's compensation structure, arguing the promotion should increase guaranteed purses instead of tying significant portions of fighter pay to win bonuses.

The longtime UFC commentator took aim at the show-win model during a recent podcast, according to Sherdog, saying fighters shoulder too much financial risk under the current system. Rogan's comments come amid ongoing debate about UFC pay scales, particularly for athletes on the undercard who often see their take-home earnings cut in half with a loss.

What Rogan's Criticism Means For UFC Pay Debate

Under the UFC's traditional structure, fighters receive one amount for showing up and a matching win bonus if they earn the victory. Rogan believes this framework penalises competitors unfairly, given the physical toll and preparation costs that remain constant regardless of the result.

The promotion has gradually shifted toward more guaranteed money in recent years, with many veteran contracts moving away from the show-win split. New deals for top-tier talent typically feature larger base purses with performance incentives rather than straight doubling for a win.

UFC 330 takes place this weekend with Islam Makhachev defending the lightweight title against Ian Garry in the main event.
