Ronda Rousey’s historic fighting career came to an end tonight after she submitted Gina Carano inside just 17 seconds.

Years after her UFC career ended in a set of knockout defeats to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes, Rousey returned to the cage to recapture her spot as one of the sport’s biggest stars. She also gave Carano the chance to relive her glory days in a massive Netflix showdown.

It always appeared that the fight meant more than just the result, with both women keen to make history and doing so in their purses alone. And luckily it ended quickly with neither woman badly hurt, and them both hanging up the gloves albeit with Carano leaving the door open.

Ronda Rousey insists her career is over after Gina Carano win

Despite her insistence throughout fight week and the entire build-up that this was a one-and-done, the question remained if Ronda Rousey would fight again should she score a statement victory. She did just that, taking just 17 seconds to reel in the years with an armbar that forced Gina Carano to tap.

So when she got on the mic with Ariel Helwani, it was a natural question for the legendary former champion. However, she remained steadfast, insisting that she is now focused on having more babies with husband Travis Browne.

“There’s no way I could have ended it better than this,” Rousey said during an emotional post-fight speech.
”I want to have some more babies, and I got to get cooking.”

Rousey and Browne already have two children, and with her 40th birthday coming up next year she is keen to add to their growing family, more than she is to ever compete again.
