Jon Jones destroyed Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, and he did it in style.

Jones remained the UFC heavyweight champion after he sent Stipe Miocic into retirement with a third-round stoppage in their fight at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

The 37-year-old Jones was in control throughout the match, opening the bout as the more aggressive fighter. He tripped Miocic and took him down to the mat before unleashing a barrage of elbows to the face, leaving his 42-year-old opponent bloodied by the end of the first round.

By the third frame, Miocic tried to be more active, but it was too late at that point with Jones brimming with confidence and simply dominating. Not to mention, Miocic was clearly slowed down by the damage he had taken in the earlier rounds.

Jones proceeded to end the fight with a spinning back kick that landed directly on Miocic's body. The former UFC heavyweight champion fell to his knee, clearly in pain. The referee quickly stopped the fight, giving Jones the TKO victory.

A slow-mo video of Jones' kick to Miocic's body further highlighted how perfect the hit was, leaving fans in utter amazement and disbelief.

"Mannnnn," a commenter said of Jones' nasty shot to Miocic's rib area. Another one added, "Sent bro into retirement. After the fight he said he’s had enough. Sheesh."

A social media user also expressed belief that Jones broke Miocic's rib, saying, "OMG that whole left side of his rib cage was shattered SHEESH."

"That’s a cracked rib brother," a fourth poster shared.

"I think I would have died," another viewer further stated.

Jon Jones' performance definitely proved that he's still at the top of his game, even at this point in his career. He now has a record-extending 16 title fight victories, with the Saturday win also his first heavyweight title defense.

It remains to be seen what's next for Jones, though he did say he's open to fighting Tom Aspinall, albeit for a huge amount of money.
