UFC's Dana White rocked the sports world on Saturday with the news that Jon "Bones" Jones is officially retired.

Jones, who holds the sport's record for most title fight wins (16) and is one of the biggest stars to ever come through the UFC, will now hand his heavyweight crown to Tom Aspinall who from this point forward will be recognized as the undisputed champion in his division.

Jones' last fight came in November of 2024 when he defeated Stipe Miocic in UFC 309's main event.

Fans reacted to the Jones announcement on X.

"YOOOOOO WHAT???" a user asked.

"greatest that ever did it. bar none," Kyron Samuels said.

"I'm curious to see how badly he actually damaged his legacy in the past 8 months," another admitted. "Will people still be saying he ducked Aspinall 5 years from now, or will 90% of fans go back to calling him the "

"if i had to pick one person to beat a gorilla it would be him," a fan posted.

"Aint no way boi."

"JONNY BONES JONES. THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. enjoy your retirement " another person replied.

"The most overrated career in all of sports. From cheating, to picking and choosing who to fight, to ducking to retirement. Stacked up title wins against nothing, but horrible middleweights and cheating against his only obstacle. Went out a loser," a detractor claimed.

"Wow. Didn't think he'd actually do it," another user shared.

"Enjoy retirement, goat."

If this is indeed it Jones likely goes down on UFC's Mt. Rushmore — something Dana White admitted last year.

"You've got to go with Jon Jones," White said. "You have to go with Ronda Rousey. Women would not be fighting in the UFC if it wasn’t for her. You would have to put GSP [Georges St-Pierre] in there and absolutely, positively Conor McGregor. He elevated and changed the game globally."
