The UFC has long been a stage where athleticism meets showmanship, but a growing trend of fighters balancing combat sports with high-fashion careers is rewriting the script.
From former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, who became the face of Ralph Lauren’s Polo Blue fragrance while defending his UFC title, to light heavyweight contender Carlos Ulberg, a part-time model with Samoan and Māori heritage who walked for luxury brands before his Contender Series knockout, the intersection of MMA and male models is no longer a novelty.
Now, we can add Islam Dulatov to that list.
The 26-year-old Chechen-German MMA fighter who once graced the runways for Versace and Gucci had a victorious UFC debut at UFC 318 in New Orleans, knocking out Adam Fugitt in the first round.
The welterweight prospect, known as "The Ripper," lived up to his nickname with a vicious left hook that sent Fugitt crashing to the canvas, sealing the victory in the opening round.

Despite Fugitt’s attempts to drag the bout into grappling exchanges, Dulatov shrugged them off with ease, showcasing the defensive wrestling he’d polished for years.
When the opportunity came, he unleashed a fight-ending left hook, following up with ruthless ground strikes before forcing the referee to step in.
UFC commentators Paul Felder and Daniel Cormier marveled at his poise, even joking that he came out of the fight looking "still pretty" ahead of a scheduled GQ photoshoot just two days later.
The win extended Dulatov’s professional record to 12-1, with 10 of those victories coming by first-round finish, a testament to his explosive power and killer instinct.
Dulatov’s journey to the UFC is anything but conventional. Before stepping into the Octagon, he was a sought-after fashion model, walking for luxury brands like Gucci, Hugo Boss, and Versace, and even earning a spot on British Vogue’s list of top male models in 2018.
If Dulatov can keep winning and keep proving that his heart belongs to the fight game, he could grow his fan base and become one of the UFC’s next stars.
