Tatiana Suarez decisions Amanda Lemos at Noche UFC

Women's stawweight contenders Tatiana Suarez and Amanda Lemos met on the Noche UFC 3 preliminary fight card on Saturday. 

Lemos entered the fight ranked No. 4 in the division and coming off a decision win over Iasmin Lucindo in March. Suarez make the walk to the octagon inside Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas coming off a loss to champion Zhang Weili. It was Suarez' first career loss.

Suarez delivered leg kicks early in the opening round. Lemos pawed with her jab looking to counter. Suarez looked to get the fight to the ground 90 seconds into the frame. A knee went low for Suarez and Lemos was given time to recover. The action was restarted after 87 seconds. 

Lemos pressured Suarez. Suarez caught a leg kick and took Lemos down but Lemos immediately got back to her feet. Suarez got the takedown with a minute remaining. Suarez ended the round on top peppering Lemos with short shorts. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Suarez. 

They exchanged leg kicks to start the second frame. Lemos continue to target the lead leg of Suarez. Suarez closed the distance and worked for a takedown along the cage. She pulled Lemos to the canvas but Lemos scrambled to her feet. Suarez kept the pressure on and delivered knees to Lemos' legs in the clinch. Midway through the round, Suarez secured a takedown. She delivered punches to the body. Lemos powered to her feet. Suarez continued to look for a takedown while landing knees to the body and legs. Lemos looked to lock up a choke but the round ended. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Suarez.   

Lemos pressed forward to start the final frame. She landed a right hand followed by an inside leg kick. Suarez shot for a takedown but Lemos defended the attempt. Suarez remained in the clinch and pressed Lemos against the cage. Suarez was able to control most of the fight but wasn't able to inflict much damage. Suarez elevate Lemos and slammed her to the ground. Lemos quickly scrambled to her feet but couldn't escape the pressure of Suarez. They separated with just under a minute on the clock. Lemos connected with a combination. She landed a hard right hand. Suarez retreated. She looked for a takedown but couldn't get it. Lemos gained top position and delivered heavy shots. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Suarez. 

The judges scored the fight Suarez via unanimous decision. All three scorecard read 29-28.
