As reported by UFC.com, at UFC Tampa, Joaquin Buckley (21-6-0) lived up to the analysts’ expectations with a knockout against Colby Covington (17-5-0).

One-Sided Dance

This welterweight match seemed like a one-sided dance. Covington didn’t make much of an impact against Buckley as he would have liked. In his victory,Buckley was able to extend his six-win winning streak. In the second round, Covington did manage to execute a takedown, but it didn’t matter.

Success with The Right Hand

From the beginning of the match, Buckley bombed Covington and was able to defend Covington’s attempts at a takedown. At the end of the first round, Buckley pounded Covington with a vicious right hand. At the opening of the second round, Buckley continued to go at Covington with his right hand.

Fight stopped at 4:42 mark

Buckley dominated Covington by TKO [doctor stoppage] in 4:42 of the 3rd round. It was Buckley’s best career performance, and the proof was in Covington’s face. With a busted eye and a bloody face, it’s clear that Covington wasn’t completely prepared to battle with Buckley. As reported by Yahoosports.com, in a post-fight press conference, Buckley said, “I know that ain’t the fight that y’all really wanted. I know we spilled a little blood, but I know you wanted to see a knockout, man.” The grinning Buckley continued, “So my bad, y’all.”
