Ilia Topuria stopped Charles Oliveira in the first round to win the vacant lightweight title, thus becoming a double champ, as you can follow what happened with round-by-round updates.

Topuria was attempting to become a two-weight world champion. He moved up from featherweight where he won the belt with a KO of Alexander Volaknovski. Topuria made one defense of the title, stopping Max Holloway to give the latter his first stoppage loss. Ilia wanted to face Islam Makhachev next. However, Islam moved up to welterweight to try and become a two-weight champion.

Meanwhile, Oliveira defeated Michael Chandler in his last fight at UFC 309. It was the perfect response to his loss against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300. Charles hoped he could reclaim the belt that he lost against Islam, but he came up short. Here is how the fight played out.
