Arman Tsarukyan has shut down talk of dropping to featherweight to face Movsar Evloev for a potential title bout.
The lightweight contender, who is pursuing a shot at the 155-pound belt, told reporters he has no plans to cut down a weight class. "First of all he gotta win the title, and I am not going down to 145 lbs," Tsarukyan said, per Sherdog.
The dismissal comes as Tsarukyan remains locked in on a UFC lightweight title opportunity. Evloev, a top featherweight contender, would need to capture championship gold before Tsarukyan would even consider the matchup — and even then, the Armenian fighter made clear he will not make the weight.
Tsarukyan's stance cements his commitment to the lightweight division, where he has built his case for a title shot against Islam Makhachev or whoever holds the belt next. The 145-pound division will have to look elsewhere for challengers.
