It is being reported that UFC 317 lost a bout just moments before weigh-ins on Friday and there was a fighter who was cut from its roster immediately after scrapping the bout.

Prior to UFC 317 weigh-in Friday in Las Vegas, UFC commentator Jon Anik announced that there had been a bout scrapped from the fight card.

A middleweight fight between Christopher Ewert and Jackson McVey was on the fight card to open UFC 317 but it was cancelled due to Ewert missing weight badly.

Ewert was then dropped by the fight promotion. This bout was supposed to be Ewert’s UFC debut.

McVey was able to weigh-in but will have to wait on his promotion for a bout later date.

“The middleweight opener between Christopher Ewert and Jackson McVey is off,” Anik said to start the UFC 317 Weigh-In Show. “McVey will still weigh in. The company will try to book him in short order.”

“Ewert was going to be several pounds over (weight). He has been cut from the UFC.”

UFC 317: Topuria vs. Oliveira will take place on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Topuria and Oliveira will be the headlining fight.
