UFC 318 goes down in New Orleans on July 19th and tonight, we learned about a banger of a featherweight matchup that’s being added to the card. Leo Guimaraes was the first to report tonight that former two-division Bellator champion Patricio Pitbull (36-8) will be taking on “50K” Dan Ige (19-9).
Starting with Dan Ige, this is the fight that he wanted after his last fight. The 14th ranked featherweight contender is coming off a TKO win over Sean Woodson a couple of months back. That win snapped a two-fight skid for Dan Ige, granted one of those fights he literally took on just a few hours notice against Diego Lopes.
Ige wanted the Bellator great next and that’s who he is getting. Patricio Pitbull made his highly anticipated octagon debut the same night that Ige defeated Sean Woodson. Pitbull fought Yair Rodriguez in a matchup where many thought he’d get a UFC title shot had he won.
Unfortunately, he looked incredibly flat and lost a lopsided decision. It was Pitbull’s first loss at featherweight since 2021 and only his second featherweight loss since 2015. He’s hoping to show UFC fans exactly who he is this next time out.
