Bryan Battle has missed weight on back-to-back occasions across two different weight classes.

It’s been a dramatic fight week to say the least, as the UFC approaches the biggest fight of the year between middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC 319 main event.

Three fights have been canceled over the last few days, including a middleweight bout between Bryan Battle and Nursulton Ruziboev.

The fight was scrapped following the weigh-ins on Friday, after Battle missed weight by 4 lbs.

Battle also missed weight by 4 lbs for his most recent fight against Randy Brown in December, which was at welterweight, the division below.

His opponent, Ruziboev, didn’t take long to react to his second weight miss in a row.

A former welterweight himself, Ruziboev weighed in at the middleweight limit of 186 lbs on Friday morning.

Ruziboev had agreed to fight Battle despite the weight miss, agreeing to take a percentage of his opponent’s purse, but the plug was ultimately pulled on the matchup.

Ruziboev wasn’t a fan of Battle for missing weight or his comments from earlier in the week.

“Instead of talking too much, you need to make the weight first,” Ruziboev wrote of Battle on his Instagram story.

“This is a professional sport blondie,” Ruziboev added.

Bryan Battle blamed Nursulton Ruziboev for their fight being on the early prelims

Before the cancellation, Battle was outspoken about fighting on the early prelims, away from the pay-per-view portion, which has more eyes.

Battle went as far as to say it was Ruziboev’s fault that they weren’t on the main card.

“I should be on the main card,” Battle told Spinnin Backfist earlier this week.

“Nursulton is dragging me down,” Battle continued.

“This isn’t the UFC’s fault, this is Nursulton’s fault and he’s going to have to pay for it…”
