The UFC 319: Du Plessis vs. Chimaev fight card lost its third bout this week on Friday following the event's official early morning weigh-ins.
Bryan Battle, The Ultimate Fighter 29 Middleweight Tournament winner, was scheduled to face Nursulton Ruziboev in a middleweight bout on the UFC 319 Preliminary Card. He missed weight by four pounds tipping the scales at 190. The bout was slated to proceed at catchweight, however, it was later announced that the bout had been cancelled.
It was the third time Battled failed to make weight in the last two years. In his last fight, at UFC 310 last December, Battle came in four pounds heavy for a welterweight bout against Randy Brown. What made Battle missing weight on Friday so shocking is he had moved up a weight class returning to the 185-pound division.
The fight cancelation comes on the heels of two other bouts falling off the fight card. King Green was forced to back out of his lightweight match against Diego Ferreira due to injury. TUF 33 welterweight final between Daniil Donchenko and Rodrigo Sezinando was also removed from the event after Sezinando suffered an injury.
UFC 319 takes place on Saturday at the United Center in Chicago. The event is headlined by a middleweight title bout between champion Dricus Du Plessis and undefeated challenger Khamzat Chimaev.
