UFC 319 Results: Michael Page Defeats Jared Cannonier by Decision

This fight between Michael Page and Jared Cannonier brought a lot of excitement early and maintained throughout the 15-minute fight. Page was able to secure a knockdown in each of the first two rounds and asserted his dominance in the fight. He seemingly looked to go for a Superman punch in the final round, but he missed and allowed Cannonier to get the momentum with the takedown. However, Page was able to fight through the remainder of the round to secure the victory.

All three judges wound up ruling the fight 29-28 in favor of Page for him to secure the unanimous decision. Page has now looked like he is claiming a spot in the middleweight division as he has now won his second consecutive fight at the weight class and third win in four UFC fights. It will be interesting as Michael Page seemingly cemented a name in the UFC Middleweight Division to the point where he can jump into the top 10 of the division after this victory.

For Page, he is in a position to step up and dominate since making his UFC debut last year after defeating Kevin Holland and Sharabutdin Magomedov as well. Cannonier is in a bit of a different position as the 41-year-old fighter has shown the ability to be solid in the octagon, but now has dropped three of his last four fights. Michael “Venom” Page has shown the ability to step up and make some noise and could be a force in the middleweight division, but who he fights next will be interesting to see.

This certainly will be interesting to see how the UFC Middleweight Division looks now after this fight and the main event of UFC 319 will play a factor into it as well. Page certainly got one step closer to a championship fight against whoever is holding the belt.
