Ronda Rousey’s latest comments have caused a stir.

At UFC 157 in 2013, Rousey beat Liz Carmouche in what marked the promotion’s first-ever women’s fight. ‘Rowdy’ would go on to enjoy a dominant bantamweight title reign with nothing but finishes until her first setback in the Octagon.

Since Rousey was knocked out by Holly Holm and subsequently also beaten by Amanda Nunes in her final fight, the former judoka has not been feeling the same love from the fans.

During a recent appearance on Bert Kreischer’s YouTube podcast, the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist took aim at MMA supporters, claiming they are fickle fans who write fighters off as soon as they lose.

But one of her fellow UFC legends thinks Rousey has it all wrong.

Chael Sonnen gives Ronda Rousey a wake-up call about MMA fans

Ronda Rousey’s remarks quickly spread around the mixed martial arts community and drew out plenty of reactions. Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen was among those calling out her take.

In a video on his YouTube channel, ‘The Bad Guy’ explained what Rousey got wrong with her assessment of the MMA fanbase.

“Nobody’s even thinking about you,” Sonnen said. “Except the ones that are in your house, your neighborhood, your community.

“Nobody has any opinion or love for you or hatred for you, whatsoever. That’s always been a part that I never felt she understood.

“It’s not personal, and they don’t really not like you,” he continued. “The part that you had wrong is when you thought that they were with you and they loved you.

“They were never with you and they never loved you, and there’s nothing mean about that. It’s called being a fan.”

Ronda Rousey sparked talk of a UFC comeback

The recent podcast comments, which included Rousey dismissing Joe Rogan as an MMA “expert,” came shortly after talk arose of a potential return to the cage.

The ex-judoka posted on social media, showing that she was back in training. In the caption, Rousey said her love for MMA was back, sparking speculation of a long-awaited UFC comeback.

“From 8 weeks after having a baby and 8 years of stepping away from MMA to 8 months postpartum and finding my love for it again,” Rousey wrote on Instagram.

“The first clip is my first session working with @aj_mma I was super self conscious, embarrassed of how much I regressed, and honestly trying my very best not to pee my pants throwing punches so soon after having baby Pā’ū.

“Second clip was yesterday, I’ve never laughed or smiled so much on the mat as I do these days,” she added.
