Could Ilia Topuria soon have this man for company at 155 pounds?

There’s Dagestani interest in this Saturday’s UFC 321 pay-per-view, as Umar Nurmagomedov looks to get back on track nine months on from his failed bantamweight title bid against Merab Dvalishvili.

As always, ‘The Young Eagle’ will have some prominent supporters as part of his entourage in Abu Dhabi. That includes another talented cousin of the legendary Khabib Nurmagomedov in the undefeated PFL lightweight champion.

Usman Nurmagomedov is in the Middle East to help his brother, as Umar gears up to face Mario Bautista on the October 25 main card. And it seems that the UFC higher-ups may have their eyes on the UFC bantamweight contender’s sibling…

While Umar has been flying the Nurmagomedov flag in the Octagon since Khabib’s retirement, Usman raised plenty of eyebrows with his rise to title glory under the Bellator banner.

His success has continued in the PFL, where Usman defeated Paul Hughes for the second time in Dubai earlier this month. He’s next expected to face 2025 lightweight tournament winner Alfie Davis.

With Islam Makhachev moving up to welterweight, members of the Dagestani team have been pointing to the PFL kingpin as the new best at 155 pounds. And a number of fans think he may get the chance to prove as much against UFC champ Topuria sooner rather than later.

Talk of Usman signing for the UFC arose after TNT Sports cameras caught his interactions with UFC president Dana White and chief business officer Hunter Campbell on stage at Friday’s UFC 321 ceremonial weigh-ins.

After shaking a smiling White’s hand, Nurmagomedov hugged and briefly spoke to Campbell.

Although Usman is in Abu Dhabi to support his brother at UFC 321, plenty of fans had some takeaways from the PFL star’s interactions with the two higher-ups.

Many concluded that White and Campbell hold interest in Usman and will look to pursue his signing at the earliest opportunity.

“Soon…”

“Bro’s never fighting another PFL fight again.”

“He is on the radar.”

“Usman to the UFC.”

“My lad is coming.”

“They are going to sign him as soon as his PFL contract is up.”

“After the Alfie Davis fight, I think Usman is going to the UFC.”

“Hunter is hunting.”

“It’s a matter of when, not if.”

“Get him in the UFC.”
