Anshul Jubli has fallen on hard times inside the cage since he made some controversial comments about a UFC legend.
Jubli’s second-round TKO victory over Jeka Saragih at UFC Vegas 68 in early 2023 made him India’s very first winner in the promotion and only the nation’s second fighter to compete inside the Octagon.
His pursuit of more history has not gone to plan, however. ‘King of Lions’ has since lost two fights in a row, both in brutal fashion. After being the victim of a memorable comeback against Mike Breeden, Jubli was stopped in just 19 seconds at UFC 312 by the debuting Quillan Salkilld.
Those results have only increased the hate Jubli has received for some past comments about how he would stack up against one of the UFC’s greatest of all time.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is widely seen as the UFC’s best-ever lightweight and a name in contention for the organization’s Mount Rushmore.
With that in mind, Jubli caused a stir when clips of the inexperienced newcomer suggesting he would stand a chance against ‘The Eagle’ down the line emerged online.
Many were quick to laugh off the comments, and their mockery has only increased following back-to-back knockout losses for the ‘King of Lions’.
In a recent social media video, Jubli passionately hit back at his detractors.
“As you’ve seen, they took small clips from my long interview and made it look like I am disrespecting Khabib,” Jubli said (h/t Red Corner MMA).
“First of all, I don’t give a damn what people think of me. I don’t waste energy on opinions, especially to those brainless, brainwashed haters.
“I am doing all the right things and I am coming back stronger than ever,” Jubli continued. “To the haters…that hateful mind, where I’m talking good about Khabib, taking small clips from there and making it look like I’m speaking badly about him, that is beyond my understanding.
“People who know me know very well how much I look up to Khabib…I’ve taken a lot from Khabib in my own game. But those who have hate deep inside, they won’t understand this.
“And the part where I’m saying I’d submit Khabib, it is said in a sense of humor. You’ll understand if you see the whole video.”
Indian MMA fighter Anshul Jubli has finally opened up about the hate he received after saying he’d submit Khabib Nurmagomedov if they ever fought. The comments in question came back in 2023 and saw Jubli suggest he would not be significantly outgunned by the retired former lightweight champion a few years down the line.
It was subsequent remarks about finishing the Dagestani that drew the biggest reactions, which he now claims were said in jest.
“If Khabib Nurmagomedov fights me next month, then maybe my chances will be minuscule,” Jubli told
Ranveer Allahbadia. “But down the line in five years, in two to three years, the odds will not be overbearing in favor of Nurmagomedov.
“There is no difference between me and Khabib. I have a world champion mindset, I am extremely strong; mentally, nothing can break me. There’s nothing in the world that can break me.”
A version of the video with subtitles also emerged in which the Indian supposedly said, “Maybe I have to survive the first round, and then I can get a knockout in the second round. I can submit Khabib.”
