Khabib Nurmagomedov has welcomed yet another one of his teammates into the UFC, with a debut set for this summer.

For years now Dagestani fighters, in particular from the famed Eagle gym, have dominated global MMA. Nurmagomedov was widely considered the greatest fighter in the world until his shock retirement in 2020, and Islam Makhachev has since taken up his mantle.

All the while, the likes of Usman Nurmagomedov and Gadzhi Rabadanov have been in control outside of the UFC with their PFL victories. And now the UFC middleweight division is set to introduce another member of the team to the roster.

The dominance of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s fighters has continued throughout now multiple generations of the sport. Just last year, Magomed Zaynukov even managed to become a massive star through just earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Now, there is a new force entering the UFC at a rare higher weight. After seven defences of his 185lb ACA title, Magomedrasul Gasanov has inked a deal with the promotion, and is expected to fight on the July 25 UFC Abu Dhabi card.

The impressive middleweight hasn’t lost in over a decade, and has spent five years as an active and undeniable champion in ACA.

After initial reports from Vestnik MMA, Khabib took to social media to congratulate his friend on the achievement. “@magomedrasul_gasanov_ Got broke into the UFC,” Nurmagomedov wrote in an Instagram post today. “Walked long, worked hard, plowed in silence. Well deserved.”
